1) What's in a name?

This was the first Shakespeare quote I thought of for this project. I have used it to represent the rejection trans and queer people often face as a result of wanting to change their names.

In this gif, I wanted to represent the rejection queer people often face as a result of coming out and changing their names.
What's in a name?

2) Under love's heavy burden do I sink

Even now, LGBT+ individuals suffer as a result of their sexuality. The quote says it all.

Love's heavy burden

3) He jests at scars that never felt a wound

Here I explored how I could visualise slurs relating to gender and sexuality, and how they would sit in the context of this quote to show how harmful these words can be.

Never felt a wound

4) She'll not be hit with cupid's arrow

In the last few decades, a lot has changed in how open most people are about sexuality and gender. However, I believe that not many people are truly aware of asexuality or what it really means to identify as asexual. That is why I felt it was important to try and include this in one of my gifs, and this quote works perfectly for it.

Cupid's arrow

5) I must be gone and live, or stay and die

This gif features flags from some of the countries where homosexuality carries a death sentence.

Be gone and live

6) Give me my sin again

With opinions on homosexuality still divided around the world, this kiss is an act of defiance. I felt that using a quote about sin ties with the uncertainty queer couples face when it comes to intimacy and affection in public spaces.

Give me my sin again
